A piece of my childhood memory

Me and my partner were out to grocery store to buy necessities and stocks for home. Passing through our last stop, snacks section (my baby loves junk foods), i passed by a figure that looks familiar to me, it's YanYan!!! I felt excited as I have not seen this for years & I never thought I would see this still out of the market. I grabbed two and went to counter and went off.

YanYan reminds me of my childhood memory. My father doesn't allow us to eat too much junk foods and sweets. Well, neither I have a choice as I have allergies to chocolates. I can only take as minimum as one bar of chocolate to consume in one month or else, you'll see me in the hospital back then. I'm not sure if it's the same until now. YanYan solves by cravings as it only has small amount of chocolate serving. So my father used to bring this home most of the time from work.
I so love and miss this! :)

Mexican experience with "MEXICALI"

My partner and I have made a plan meeting up with a good friend of ours this afternoon so right after getting off from work, we went to RCBC Plaza in Makati to meet up with her together with two more friends. We were debating on were to spend our meal when one on our group have suggested to try Mexicali and we all have agreed on it so we could try something different.

South West Monsoon in Manila: August 2012

August 6, 2012
My partner and I were spending good time together at home while rain was pouring hard outside. We thought it was just an ordinary downpour and even have planned to bathe under the rain that afternoon. Both of us were feeling good as we thought that the coldness of the weather can both put us down to a very, very good night sleep. Not until my partner turned on the television and got shocked by the news being aired by Saksi referring to the flooded areas and people affected by the southwest monsoon enhanced by tropical storm "Haiku". Our door is closed as we watched and when I have decided to look outside, I got astound to see that water have already risen on the road which has never happened before. I opened my computer and went online to get an updates from my friends through Facebook.

Invading Coron: Free time in town

Of course my story wouldn't be complete without sharing our experience during our free time in town. Let me share with you where we have eaten our meals.

Coron by night FOODTRIP located across the street from Coron Town Center is offering delicious dishes in big servings. From the healthy vegetables to best tasting seafood are offered here at low cost. At first look, price maybe high for budget travelers, but rest assured that servings are already good for two person so the prices are just right. We have ordered SUTTANA DE CORON (P250), CHOPSEUY (P195) served with 4 cups of rice.

Invading Coron 4: Best part of our Island Hopping

From Bulungan Beach we went next to Kayangan Lake. Dubbed as the cleanest Lake in Asia, this is one of the most visited site in the area. As per my research prior to my trip, this place is having the most expensive entrance fee within the Coron Islands Loop costs P200 while others are just P100 each. Sounds steep but you will realize it's all worth it once you witnessed its beauty.

Invading Coron 3: Island Hopping part 1

We arrived in Coron having just our plane ticket and hotel accommodation. No tours were booked in advance as I have read on other blogsite that it is better to do everything right when you arrived there. And I am glad I have made the right choice! Someone offered us an exclusive tour for four people amounting to 1400.++ each person which I thought is already a bargain. But a person we have met in our city tour, named Daddy Dennis,  have seen an endorsement from one of the tour offices based in town offering a cheap rates of island hopping tour. Each will only costs P650 for a group of 5 that includes everything already. Pretty reasonable, huh?! Me with my group have decided to grab the offer and Daddy Dennis with his wife Mommy Alice have joined us to take the package for everyone's sake. ☺

Invading Coron 2: City Town Tour

At 4 o'clock in the afternoon, we're off to our city tour. We have used the same van and the same driver who've picked us up from the airport for this activity. We met Kuya Ray, tour guide, and we're off to town.

Just 2 block away from hotel, we turned left and at the end of the road, we have stopped, that's already our first destination. Ang lapit lang pala! Yet having toured by a van and a tour guide is worthy as you don't have to guess where you're at.

Lualhati Park is also known as Coron Boulevard. Looking at it from afar,  it is like a provincial version of the crowded and populated Manila Baywalk. But this neither has shops nor vendors around. It is just one simple and quiescent part of town where one can relax without any person disturbing you at all. I think this is also best for an early morning jog. This is also where the jump off point to island hopping starts where boats are docked on one end.

Invading Coron 1: The arrival

I was able to book our flight 6 months ago via AirPhil Express with it's P188 sale before taxes and fees. It's just me and my partner who's booked when a close friend of mine and his partner decided to join us on our trip and so we waited for another airline sale and lucky us, just a month before we leave, we were able to grab their ticket with the same airlines and fortunately, with the same flight.

Lamesa Grill - MOA

Instead of going to Robinsons Manila as we usually do, we took a different route this time and found ourselves bound to SM Mall of Asia. It was all my idea as I am craving for something different this time. Craving for something fishy! choz!

On our way to MOA, my partner asked me what to do first, I answered promptly, "eat at LAMESA GRILL!". That was my main reason why I wanted to go here. I'm craving so much about their dishes. We instructed our taxi driver (yep! we didn't brought our ride.) to drop us off at the back by the bay so we can cut the time needing to walk from front to back. And so we arrive and walked ourselves in LaMesa Grill and asked for table for a two and we sat down.

When we had our table, I already know what to order so I have placed it immediately and just took these afterwards:

Seafood Galore in Dampa

It's payday! And I had a scheduled date with my partner today in Robinsons Manila hence it was changed as my partner's team on our office have decided to spend an afternoon lunch, which I am invited, in Dampa Macapagal that is famous due to having a lot of restaurant who only serves the freshest seafood options. Instead of getting disoriented, it made me glad as going here in group will reduce the amount of money you will pay as eating here could sometimes cost a fortune especially if there will only be the two of us.

As today is my off, I would still have to go to the office so I can be able to join the team. Arriving in the office just in time, my partner's shift ended at 2pm. And so we're off to Dampa.

An afternoon spent with Aling Banang's

It's a tiring day at the office and I ended my shift very hungry as I have not eaten anything heavy since last night. I have only eaten crackers and juice during lunchtime as I am too lazy to buy food outside our office and that made me starved to death.

So when me and my partner went out of the office, I have asked him if we can go eat out before heading home. He asked me where to, I said I wanted to go to one of our favorite place to eat, Aling Banang's. He agreed right away and drove off.

Aling Banang's was introduced to me by my partner. He said before it was within my standard when it comes to palatability. I was so hesitant before as for me, it is just an ordinary eatery but due to my partners assurance and as the place claims that it is a Restaurant, not an eatery, I finally gave in. And it made myself wrong! I was surprised that it was really good! Good enough that it cannot just be considered as eatery. It was indeed a restaurant type place. So after the first trial, this place turned us on becoming a patron.

So-so meal @ Max's

Last night, my partner and I were discussing on where to spend our time-off together as its the only common day we have every week. I suggested to got to Festival Mall in Alabang to try something different. But this afternoon, we still ended up going to our usual place, Robinsons Ermita. We have both agreed to change our itinerary as Rob-Ermita is just around 15-20 minutes away from home and we can drive on the way there by our motorcycle which will save our time and money unlike Alabang which requires time and weary.

Both of us didn't had breakfast as I am too lazy to cook and he said also that we can just eat outside. Upon arrival, we looked on where to eat first. Our options were Pizza Hut, Karate Kid or Sbarro. Yet, when we passed by Max's Restaurant, he asked if it's okay to just have our brunch here. Since it was his favorite I nodded. Who am I to resist? Max's dishes were always great isn't it?
